I chose this pattern because it's one size fits 8-40 lbs-- I didn't want to have to cut out different sizes. In my picture here the ones on top are folded down to the smaller size, and the one on the bottom is the bigger size. I'm also glad it uses velcro because I didn't want to buy a snap press. You can buy diaper cuts of the waterproof PUL fabric, but it's cheaper to just buy it by the yard. With the fabrics I used each yard gets me 6 diapers.
Each diaper+insert ended up running me about $7.50 to make. Not too bad! Dirk let me order supplies for another six diapers, and I'm planning to make another set or two after that, so hopefully we'll have a nice little bunch of them by the time we need them. :)
